After another season of relentless output, his claim has only grown stronger.

The 33-year-old was in irresistible form throughout 2024–25, recording 34 goals and 23 assists across 52 appearances in all competitions.

His influence was central to Liverpool’s Premier League title under Arne Slot, with Salah directly involved in more than half of the team’s goals in the league.

He was duly named on the 30-man shortlist earlier this month, alongside three of his teammates, as he looks to better his previous best finish of fifth.

Salah’s consistency was underlined again on August 15, when he became the Premier League’s all-time top scorer on opening days.

His decisive strike against Bournemouth marked his 10th goal in season openers, setting a new competition record.

The Ballon d’Or discussion often divides opinion, but what caught attention this year was the voice of support coming from Old Trafford.

The Liverpool forward recently moved fourth on the Premier League’s all-time scoring list with 187 goals, trailing only Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Alan Shearer.
